Thompson & Morgan Kew 'Musk Mallow' seeds

From the range developed with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, this dwarf Musk Mallow is a study in understated charm. 'Snow White' produces masses of gleaming white flowers with delicate pale pink stamens through late summer, creating a surprisingly eye-catching display from such a compact, easy-going plant. Perfectly at home in a sunny perennial border or a dedicated wildlife area, its flowers are a real draw for pollinating insects.

Sow indoors from February to June, or again from September to October, using a good quality seed compost. Sow on the surface, firm down gently, and cover with a fine layer of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator, or seal inside a plastic bag, at a temperature of 15-20°C until germination occurs. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, pot on and grow away from frost before planting out. Reaching up to 40cm in height with a spread of up to 45cm, it's happy in sun or semi-shade and makes a neat, well-behaved addition to any border.
