Iris

Some of the very earliest colour in the gardening year comes courtesy of the dwarf reticulata iris. Flowering from as early as February, these small, jewel-bright blooms push through while the rest of the garden is still waking up, bringing a genuine splash of colour to borders, pots and rockeries at the tail end of winter.
