Tulip 'Purissima' 30 bulbs

Tulip 'Purissima' (30 Bulbs)

Also known as White Emperor, 'Purissima' is one of the most reliable and best-loved of all Fosteriana tulips, holding the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding garden performance. Large, elegant blooms open in pure ivory-white with a soft creamy-yellow base, their broad, elongated petals giving each flower a porcelain-like poise on sturdy, weather-resistant stems. A subtle sweet fragrance adds a further layer of charm to this classic spring favourite.

Flowering from early to mid-spring, 'Purissima' reaches an ultimate height of around 40cm with a spread of 15cm, making it equally at home massed in borders, planted through containers, or paired with deeper-coloured tulips and blue muscari for a striking contrast. As a Fosteriana variety it is particularly vigorous and naturalises well, often returning reliably for several years in well-drained soil.

Plant bulbs in autumn, 12–15cm deep, in full sun or partial shade. Choose a well-drained spot, as tulips dislike sitting in wet soil over winter. As with all tulip bulbs, they are best kept out of reach of pets and children if eaten in quantity, so plant with this in mind if you have inquisitive animals in the garden.
