Taylors Bulbs Tulip 'Calgary' (5)

Compact, sturdy and dependable, Tulip 'Calgary' is a Triumph tulip that's earned its RHS Award of Garden Merit through sheer resilience. Pure white cup-shaped flowers carry subtle cream blushes and a hint of green veining at the base, with flushed yellow stamens adding a warm touch at the centre.

Standing at a neat 25cm, Calgary's short, stocky stems make it especially good at shrugging off wind and rain — a real asset in an exposed or coastal garden — while its petals hold their shape for longer than many other tulips. Flowering in mid-spring, it's ideal for the front of borders, beds, or patio pots, where the crisp white blooms stand out beautifully against dark green foliage.

Plant bulbs in autumn, 10–15cm deep, in fertile, well-drained soil with shelter from strong winds. As with all tulips, bulbs and sap can be harmful if eaten and may irritate skin, so gloves are recommended when handling.
