Taylors Bulbs Narcissus `Ice King` (5)

A double daffodil with real charm, Narcissus 'Ice King' offers frilled, carnation-like blooms in a soft, shifting palette — opening a pale lemon-yellow before gradually maturing to a cool ivory-white as the flowers develop. Large and impressively full at up to 10cm across, each bloom carries a sweet, strong fragrance.

A sport of the much-loved 'Ice Follies', Ice King reaches around 40cm and holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its consistent, reliable garden performance. It flowers in mid-spring and makes a superb, long-lasting cut flower, though as with many double varieties, it benefits from a sheltered spot to protect the heavier blooms from wind and rain.

Plant bulbs in autumn, at one-and-a-half to two times their own depth, in moderately fertile, well-drained soil that stays reliably moist through the growing season, in full sun or partial shade. As with all narcissi, bulbs and sap can be harmful if eaten and may irritate skin, so gloves are recommended when handling.
