Sorbus 'Amber Light' – Rowan (12L Pot)

'Amber Light' is a handsome, easy-going rowan with interest through every season. In mid to late spring it bears flat clusters of creamy white flowers, followed by generous bunches of glowing red berries. Unlike many rowans, whose fruits fade to white, these keep their rich colour deep into winter, brightening the garden and feeding the birds. The attractive bluish-green, finely divided leaves turn fiery shades of orange and red in autumn. It's upright to spreading, and makes an excellent small tree for gardens, driveways and wildlife-friendly planting.

It grows to around 4m x 3m after 10 years. Plant in full sun or light shade in moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil. It tolerates clay and damp ground. It is hardy and copes well with urban pollution and coastal conditions, and needs very little pruning beyond removing any crossing or damaged branches in winter.
