Rosa 'Grafin Eule Zu Rantzau'

A beautifully elegant Kordes bedding rose from the Parfuma collection, 'Gräfin Elke zu Rantzau' produces richly full, cup-shaped blooms up to 9–10cm across, borne in small clusters of one to three flowers per stem. The petals are a lovely creamy white brushed with soft rosé-pink hues. The fragrance is a real journey — starting delicate but growing steadily more intense, opening with creamy, fruity notes of apricot and apple before deepening into an aromatic, woody base of myrrh, earthy spice and a touch of patchouli. This complex scent is at its most noticeable around midday and in the evening. The rose was introduced by Kordes as a 2019 novelty, named in honour of Countess Elke of Rantzau.

Bushy and upright in habit, this variety is wonderfully healthy and reliable, showing good resistance to blackspot. It performs best in a sunny to lightly shaded position, in humus-rich, free-draining soil kept fresh and well-nourished. A light trim in autumn followed by a proper prune in spring will keep growth strong and encourage the fullest flowering, with feeding recommended at pruning time and again after the main June flush.

Reaching up to 1m (3ft) in height with a compact spread of around 60cm (2ft), 'Gräfin Elke zu Rantzau' is perfectly suited to smaller beds, borders, and even large containers or balconies, flowering generously from June right through to October.
