Rhododendron Dusty Miller 13cm pot

A rhododendron with real character on both sides of the leaf, 'Dusty Miller' pairs dark, glossy green foliage with a striking silvery-white indumentum beneath — a soft, felted coating that catches the light and gives the underside of every leaf a frosted appearance. In late spring to early summer it comes into its own, with pale pink flowers flushed red that gradually fade to a soft cream, creating an attractive multi-toned display across the whole plant as the blooms age at different rates.

This is a small, compact evergreen shrub, reaching around 1m in height, making it a good fit for a smaller border or as part of a woodland-edge planting scheme where its indumentum can be appreciated up close. Like other rhododendrons, it prefers moist, well-drained, acidic (ericaceous) soil and grows best in partial shade with some shelter from harsh afternoon sun, though it will tolerate more open positions in cooler climates. Fully hardy, it needs no winter protection once established. Any pruning is best carried out just after flowering has finished.
