Quercus x warei 'Regal Prince' – Upright Hybrid Oak (7L Pot)

'Regal Prince' is a handsome, narrow oak, a hybrid between the upright English oak and the American swamp white oak that combines the best of both parents. It is strong and fast-growing, and forms a slim, upright crown of glossy dark green leaves with silvery undersides that shimmer in the breeze. They turn warm amber-yellow in autumn, and the grey-green bark develops an attractive pattern of small rectangular plates with age. It's very hardy and has good resistance to the powdery mildew that often affects oaks. It's an excellent choice for avenues, boundaries and gardens where space is too tight for a spreading oak.

It grows to around 7m x 2m after 10 years. Plant in full sun in deep, fertile, well-drained soil. It is very hardy and adaptable, and keeps its narrow shape naturally, so little pruning is needed.
