Pyrus salicifolia 'Pendula' – Weeping Silver Pear (12L Pot)

The weeping willow-leaved pear is one of the most elegant small trees for the garden, forming a graceful mound of cascading branches covered in narrow, silvery, willow-like leaves. Small creamy white flowers appear among the foliage in April, followed by little brown-green fruits that the birds enjoy, and the leaves take on a bronzed-green tint in autumn. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit and makes a beautiful lawn specimen or focal point, lighting up borders and looking wonderful against dark foliage or in a silver or white-themed planting.

It grows to around 3m x 3m after 10 years. Plant in full sun in any well-drained soil. It is very hardy and tolerant of clay and drought once established. Thin out crowded branches occasionally in winter to keep the weeping head light and airy.
