Prunus x yedoensis — 12L Container

Prunus x yedoensis, the Yoshino cherry, is the famous cherry of Japan's blossom festivals, introduced to the West in 1907. In late March its upright, spreading branches are covered in single, blush-white flowers with a light almond scent. The leaves turn yellow in autumn. A graceful, early-flowering tree.

It grows to around 5m x 5m after 10 years. Plant in full sun in well-drained soil; it tolerates most soils, including chalk and clay. Little pruning is needed, but any that is required should be done in summer, when the risk of silver leaf is lowest.
