Pilularia globulifera 1ltr Ovygenator

An unusual and distinctive little plant, actually the UK's sole native aquatic fern, despite its grass-like appearance. Thin, thread-like fronds unfurl from tight coils and arise from creeping rhizomes, forming a lush green carpet up to around 8-10cm high, with small round spore cases at the base of the fronds.

Pillwort thrives at the margins of ponds and pools with fluctuating water levels, growing equally well in shallow water or on damp, boggy ground. It needs full sun and unpolluted water, and won't tolerate shade. Once established, it needs no maintenance, dying back in autumn before fresh growth returns in spring.
