Pieris japonica 'Debutante' 3ltr

Pieris japonica 'Debutante'

An RHS Award of Garden Merit shrub, 'Debutante' is a neat, compact pieris that earns its place in the garden twelve months of the year. Small, dark green evergreen leaves form a dense, bushy habit, topped in spring by erect panicles of creamy-white, bell-shaped flowers that put on a reliable and generous display, drawing in early pollinators when little else is in bloom.

Grow in full sun or partial shade, in moist but well-drained, acidic soil — this is a lime-hating shrub, so ericaceous compost is essential for container growing or where garden soil is neutral to alkaline. Choose a sheltered spot for best results. Compact and slow-growing, it typically reaches 0.5–1m in both height and spread over ten to twenty years, making it a good fit for smaller borders, foundation planting, or patio pots. As with other pieris, all parts of the plant are harmful if eaten, so gloves are worth wearing when pruning or handling.

Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
