A softly beautiful fountain grass, 'Flamingo' forms a dense, tufted clump of arching mid-green leaves topped from mid to late summer with narrow, bottlebrush-like plumes in a warm rose pink. The flower panicles typically run 10–14cm in length, held gracefully above the foliage where they catch the light and sway in the slightest breeze. As the flowers age, they fade to a soft, pale golden hue, extending the display well into autumn.
Growing to around 80cm in height, this deciduous perennial suits mixed borders, gravel gardens, and coastal planting schemes particularly well. Grow in full sun in light, moderately fertile, well-drained soil. In colder or more exposed gardens it can be short-lived, so a dry mulch over winter helps protect the crown, especially in the first year or two after planting. Leave the old flower stems in place through winter for structure and interest, then cut back hard in late winter or early spring as new growth begins.
Each plant is hand-selected to ensure it reaches you in excellent condition, ready to bring gentle movement and long-lasting colour to your garden.
