Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Fairy Tails' 26cm pot

A graceful ornamental grass forming neat, upright clumps of fine, arching foliage, Pennisetum 'Fairy Tails' puts on a long season of interest with its soft, foxtail-like flower plumes. Emerging pink-tinged from midsummer, the blooms mature to warm wheat and biscuit tones, standing well above the foliage and catching the light beautifully when backlit or moved by the breeze. It brings movement and texture to borders, gravel gardens, and container planting alike.

Reaching around 60–100cm in height with a similar spread, this deciduous grass dies back over winter before returning with fresh growth each spring. Grow in full sun to light shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Cut back the previous year's growth to the base in late winter or early spring, just before new shoots appear. Established plants are drought-tolerant and low maintenance, needing little beyond this annual tidy-up.
