Nandina domestica 'Obsessed'

A dense, compact form of heavenly bamboo prized for its fiery colour, Nandina domestica 'Obsessed' produces bright red new foliage in spring that gradually matures to a rich dark green as the season progresses, holding its striking colour for many months. Small white flowers appear on showy conical panicles in midsummer, adding further interest to this reliably evergreen shrub.

This cultivar doesn't produce fruit, making it a tidy, low-mess choice compared to some Nandina varieties. As with all Nandina, the plant is harmful if eaten, so care should be taken around pets and poultry, and gloves are recommended when handling and pruning.

Slow-growing and long-lived, 'Obsessed' reaches a neat 0.5–1m in height and spread, with a dense, upright, columnar habit that makes it ideal for narrow borders, foundation planting, or as a striking focal point in a container. It thrives in full sun in a sheltered spot with any moist but well-drained soil.
