Miscanthus sinensis 'Little Zebra' is a compact, dwarf form of the popular Zebra Grass, prized for its striking variegated foliage marked with horizontal golden-yellow bands across green blades – a feature it holds reliably throughout the season, unlike some larger varieties which fade to plain green. In late summer, it flowers reliably even in cooler seasons, sending up lovely reddish-purple, fan-shaped plumes held just above the foliage, which age gracefully to a soft creamy tan, providing valuable interest right through winter.

Forming a neat, tidy, clump-forming mound, this variety reaches a height of around 90cm with a spread of 60cm, making it perfectly suited to smaller gardens, mixed borders, rock gardens, containers, or as an eye-catching accent or specimen plant.

Miscanthus 'Little Zebra' thrives in full sun to light shade, in any reasonably moist, well-drained soil, and is fully hardy and low-maintenance once established. Simply cut back to the base in late winter, just before fresh new growth emerges in spring.
