Malus transitoria 'Golden Raindrops' is a distinctive cut-leaf crab apple with fine, deeply lobed foliage that gives it a light, airy look. White blossom in April is followed by masses of tiny golden-yellow fruits that hang like raindrops and persist for the birds, while the leaves turn yellow-gold in autumn. Wide-spreading, disease resistant and holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
It grows to around 4m x 3m after 10 years. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil; clay is tolerated. It is self-fertile and an excellent pollinator for nearby apple trees, and needs very little pruning beyond removing any damaged growth in late winter.
Each tree is hand-selected before dispatch.
