Malus ioe Purpurea EVELYN — 12L Container

Malus ioensis 'Purpurea' EVELYN is a spectacular purple-leaved Prairie crab. Single, fragrant, rose-red flowers open in April against large, lobed, dark purple leaves, which turn a stunning orange-red in autumn. Small fruits follow in shades of green, yellow and red. Fast-growing and eye-catching, it brings colour from spring right through to autumn.

It grows to around 4m x 3m after 10 years. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil; clay is tolerated. It is self-fertile and an excellent pollinator for nearby apple trees, and needs very little pruning beyond removing any damaged growth in late winter.
