Lobelia speciosa Starship Deep Rose 3L

A striking, upright cardinal flower with real architectural presence. Dense clumps of dark green foliage send up strictly vertical, near-black stems, each topped with long spires of two-lipped, deep rose-pink flowers that hold their colour beautifully against the dark foliage. Flowering from midsummer through to early autumn, it's a magnet for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds, and brings strong vertical interest to beds, borders and pondside planting. Reaches around 50-60cm in height with a spread of 30-60cm, forming a well-branched, compact clump.

Grow in full sun or partial shade in deep, rich, moisture-retentive soil - it's particularly well suited to damp spots, rain gardens or areas near ponds and streams, tolerating wetter conditions than most perennials. In drier soil, site in part shade and water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist. Divide established clumps in spring if needed.
