Kniphofia 'Happy Halloween' 2ltr

A striking, late-flowering red hot poker that puts on one of the best autumn shows in the garden. Tall, sturdy spikes rise above clumps of strap-like foliage, each topped with a dense torch of tubular flowers that open red before fading to warm orange - like little glowing pumpkins nodding above the border. Reaching around 75cm in height, it makes a bold architectural statement in late summer and well into autumn, when many other perennials are winding down.

Grow in full sun in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, avoiding waterlogged conditions over winter. Once established, it's a reliable, low-maintenance perennial - simply cut back old flower spikes after flowering and tidy away dead leaves in mid-spring. Clumps can be divided in late spring to create new plants, or propagated from offshoots at the crown.
