Iris louisiana 'Black Gamecock' 1Ltr

One of the most celebrated Louisiana irises, 'Black Gamecock' produces huge, velvety deep purple-black flowers up to 15cm across, each falls petal marked with a fine gold signal. It's a real show-stopper at the water's edge, flowering from late spring into midsummer above strap-like green foliage.

Vigorous and free-flowering, this award-winning cultivar (winner of the American Iris Society's Mary Swords DeBaillon Medal) reaches around 60-90cm in height and thrives in sun or partial shade, in moist to wet, acidic, humus-rich soil. It can be grown at the pond margin in up to 15cm of standing water, or in a consistently damp border.
