Helenium mariachi 'Salsa' 2L

A compact, herbaceous perennial with green, lance-shaped, toothed leaves and sturdy stems that carry a long, generous display of daisy-like flowers from late summer into autumn. The blooms combine warm red to dark orange ray petals with a contrasting yellow-brown central disc, giving 'Salsa' the fiery, sunset colouring the Mariachi Series is known for. It's a good choice for late-season colour in a border, and the flowers are excellent for cutting as well as being popular with bees, butterflies and other pollinators.

Reaching around 50cm in height with a slightly wider spread of up to a metre, 'Salsa' does best in full sun, in moist but well-drained soil — it's tolerant of chalk, clay, loam and sand. Keep it well watered through dry spells, as this Helenium doesn't perform well if it's allowed to dry out, and stake taller stems in exposed spots if needed to stop them flopping. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering, and divide congested clumps every few years in spring to keep plants vigorous and to produce more for free.

Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch to ensure it reaches you in the best possible condition.
