Give your acid-loving plants a strong, stable growing medium with Growmoor John Innes Ericaceous Compost, a traditional loam-based mix formulated to the John Innes standard specifically for lime-hating plants. The loam base brings a weight and structure that peat- or coir-only ericaceous composts can't match, making it a particularly good choice for larger container specimens that need a stable footing.
Blended from quality loam, peat, sharp sand, and a balanced starter feed, all formulated to a low pH, this compost supports the healthy nutrient uptake acid-loving plants depend on, helping to prevent the yellowing and stunted growth caused by lime-induced chlorosis. The loam content also improves the compost's ability to hold both moisture and nutrients, meaning less frequent watering and feeding than lighter, peat-only alternatives.
Ideal for rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, heathers, and blueberries, this compost is particularly well suited to permanent container planting, where its loam base provides the long-term stability and nutrient buffering these plants need over successive seasons.
How to use: Use straight from the bag for potting and repotting, firming gently as you go. Water with rainwater rather than tap water where possible, as hard tap water can gradually raise the compost's pH over time, and feed with an ericaceous liquid feed during the growing season once initial nutrients are used up.
Each bag is carefully blended to the John Innes formula, giving acid-loving plants the stable, long-term growing conditions they need to flourish.
