Festuca glauca AmiGold ('Amigol 25')

A vibrant, gold-leaved twist on the familiar blue fescue, AmiGold forms tight, dense clumps of fine, needle-like foliage in a bold green-gold that holds its colour well through the seasons. It brings the same neat, dome-shaped habit as its blue-leaved relatives but with a warmer, sunnier tone — a striking front-of-border or gravel garden accent, especially planted alongside true blue fescues or dark-leaved companions for contrast.

A durable, long-lived selection reaching roughly 25cm tall and up to 40cm wide at maturity. Grow in full sun for the richest colour (it will tolerate light shade, though gold tones are less intense), in free-draining soil that stays on the dry side — like other fescues, it dislikes winter wet. Divide every three years or so to keep clumps fresh and prevent them thinning out in the centre.
