Euonymus europaeus 'Red Cascade' (12L Pot)

A cultivar of our native British spindle, 'Red Cascade' is a large, vigorous deciduous shrub grown chiefly for its spectacular seasonal transformation. Small, unassuming yellow-green flowers appear in spring, followed by unremarkable dark green oval leaves through summer — but come autumn, the whole shrub bursts into brilliant scarlet-red foliage. This variety holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is recognised as an RHS Plants for Pollinators selection.

The real spectacle continues once the leaves fall: striking rose-pink fruit capsules, around 2cm across, split open to reveal bright orange seeds inside — a vivid colour combination that persists on the bare branches well into winter, providing valuable food for garden birds. Please note the fruits and seeds are toxic if eaten, so it's best sited away from areas where young children or pets might be tempted to sample them.

Wonderfully easy-going, it tolerates a wide range of soils including chalk, clay, loam and sand, and copes with both exposed and sheltered sites in full sun or partial shade. Given time it reaches an eventual height of 2.5–4m with a slightly narrower spread of 1.5–2.5m, needing little to no pruning to maintain its shape — ideal for a mixed border, hedgerow-style planting, or as a striking autumn and winter specimen.
