Diosma hirsuta 'Pink Fountain'
A delicate, fine-textured little charmer, also known as Pink Breath of Heaven. This compact, evergreen South African shrub forms a neat, dense yet airy mound of slender, needle-like foliage, reminiscent of heather, which releases a surprising spicy fragrance at the lightest touch. From late winter through spring, it's smothered in masses of tiny, star-shaped pink flowers, giving months of colour when little else is in bloom, and making it a real magnet for early pollinators.
Compact and slow-growing, 'Pink Fountain' typically reaches just 40–60cm in height and spread at maturity, making it perfect for a sunny rockery, gravel garden, coastal border, or a decorative container on the patio. It needs full sun and free-draining, sandy or loam soil to thrive, and copes well with drought once established. Only half-hardy, tolerating temperatures down to around -5°C, so a sheltered spot is essential, and in colder gardens it's best grown in a pot that can be moved under cover for winter. Trim lightly after flowering to keep its naturally soft, fountain-like shape.
Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
