David Austin 'Alberic Barbier' Rambler

A classic, vigorous rambler bred by the Barbier nursery in France in 1860, and long sold through David Austin's rambling rose collection. Pretty yellow buds open into fully double, quartered, creamy white blooms around 3" across, gently fading to ivory as they age and giving a soft, ruffled, old-English-garden look. Carries a light, fruity fragrance, and flowers in a generous main flush in early summer with some repeat flowering into late summer, especially in a warm season. Almost evergreen, with glossy, dark green foliage that stays attractive through much of the year. Thin, flexible stems make it easy to train, and it's particularly well suited to shady spots where many roses struggle. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit. A genuinely vigorous grower, reaching up to 7.5m within its first three years and capable of 25ft given the space — ideal for shrouding a pergola, large wall, or growing up through a mature tree.
