Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata' 2Ltr

One of the most popular winter-flowering shrubs for good reason, 'Aureomarginata' pairs glossy dark green leaves edged in gold with clusters of intensely fragrant purplish-pink flowers, white within, borne from January through to March or April. This compact, evergreen shrub holds its striking variegated foliage year-round, bringing valuable colour and structure to the garden when little else is in bloom. A holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it's a reliable and well-proven choice.

Forming a dense, rounded shrub, it reaches around 1.5m in height and spread at maturity, though growth is slow and can take 10 to 20 years to reach full size. Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, in a sheltered spot away from harsh winds. Mulch annually in spring with well-rotted organic matter to keep the roots cool, and avoid moving the plant once established, as it strongly resents root disturbance and transplanting.
