Cyclamen coum 2 x 9cm pots

One of the first true signs that winter is loosening its grip, Cyclamen coum brings a scatter of jewel-bright flowers to the garden from midwinter through to early spring, often pushing up through the last of the snow. The delicate, swept-back blooms in shades of magenta, pink and white sit above neat rounded leaves, many beautifully marbled with silver, giving interest even before the flowers appear.

A low, tuberous perennial reaching just 5-8cm in height with a spread of around 10cm, it's perfectly suited to naturalising under deciduous trees and shrubs, in rockeries, or tucked along a shaded border edge, where it will slowly spread into generous drifts over the years. It thrives in humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial to full shade, and prefers to be left undisturbed once planted. Fully hardy, it needs no winter protection. As with other cyclamen, the tubers are best kept out of reach of pets and children, as they can cause mild irritation if eaten.
