Crataegus × media 'Punicea Flore Pleno' (12L Pot)

Known widely as the double pink hawthorn, this thorny, deciduous small tree of neat rounded habit is a real showstopper in late spring, when it becomes smothered in fully double, deep pink flowers resembling miniature rosettes — a display that's thought to be the parent of the more familiar 'Paul's Scarlet'. Small, lobed, glossy green leaves clothe the branches, turning warm yellow and bronze tones in autumn before shiny red-black fruits appear, providing valuable food for garden birds through the colder months.

This variety carries the RHS Award of Garden Merit, reflecting its long history in cultivation and reliable garden performance.

Tough and adaptable, it grows well in most soils including chalk, clay, loam and sand, and copes with exposed, coastal or polluted sites, thriving in full sun or partial shade. Given time it will reach an eventual height and spread of around 4–8m, making it a lovely specimen tree for smaller gardens, urban plots, or as a striking flowering feature in a wildlife border.
