Ceratophyllum demersum loose in a cup

A British native, fully submerged oxygenating plant with dark green, feathery foliage that forms bushy underwater mats. Grown loose in still or slow-moving water, it plays a vital role in keeping ponds clear and healthy — absorbing excess nutrients, competing strongly with algae, and providing shelter for fish, tadpoles and other pond life. Unlike most aquatics it has no roots, so no potting is required: simply drop it into the pond and it will find its own depth. Reaches up to 100cm in length, and can be grown at depths from shallow water down to 2m. Thrives in sun to partial shade.
