Carex testacea 'Prairie Fire' 3tr

A dense, tufted evergreen sedge that earns its keep year-round, with narrow, arching leaves in warm olive-green flushed with deep orange-bronze and tipped with vivid orange. As autumn arrives, the foliage deepens further into fiery orange-red tones, providing especially welcome colour and texture through the winter months when the garden needs it most. Insignificant brown flower spikes appear in summer, adding subtle interest without distracting from the foliage display.

This compact, clump-forming grass reaches a height and spread of around 50cm (20in), making it a versatile choice for gravel gardens, border edging, or cascading elegantly from patio containers. It colours best in full sun but tolerates partial shade, and thrives in any moist, well-drained soil — though it dislikes sitting wet over winter.
