Carex buchananii 'Red Rooster' 3lt

A distinctive evergreen sedge with a striking, upright habit — thin, flat leaves twist gracefully at the tips and hold a rich orange to reddish-bronze colouring throughout the year, offering warmth and texture to the garden in every season. In summer, wiry, threadlike stems carry brown flower spikes, adding further fine detail to the plant's overall silhouette.

This clump-forming grass reaches a height and spread of 0.5–1m (1½–3¼ft), forming a stiff, upright fan that makes a superb contrast plant among green-leaved neighbours, in gravel gardens, or as a feature in mixed containers. It's a versatile, low-maintenance choice, tolerating most soil types and aspects, though it colours best in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained soil.
