Carex buchananii 'Red Rooster' 3lt

An evergreen sedge with upright to arching, thin, flat leaves with twisted tips, coloured orange to reddish-bronze, reaching around 24 inches tall with an 18-inch spread. Extremely versatile, tolerating most soil types and aspects, though it prefers full sun, and is disease- and pest-resistant, and low-maintenance. Best grown in well-drained, fertile soil, avoiding excessive winter wet or extremes of wet and dry.

Care: Doesn't need traditional cutting back — in late winter or early spring, comb through with your fingers or a rake to remove dead foliage. Avoid hard pruning, as regrowth is slow and it can spoil the natural shape.
