Calla palustris 1ltr

A charming, low-growing marginal aquatic with a relaxed, rambling habit. Glossy, heart-shaped green leaves emerge from creeping rhizomes, providing lush ground cover along the pond edge. From late spring into early summer it produces elegant white arum-like spathes surrounding a yellow-green spadix, followed by clusters of dull red berries in autumn — the flowers are unusual in being pollinated by snails as well as flies. A lovely choice for softening pond margins and bog gardens, offering shelter for amphibians and aquatic insects along the way. Reaches 15–30cm in height with a similar spread. Grows well in full sun to partial shade, in wet, humus-rich soil or the shallow margins of a pond down to around 15cm deep.
