Calathea crocata 'Tassmania' — 14cm Pot

Nicknamed the "Eternal Flame" plant, 'Tassmania' pairs two of the calathea family's best qualities in one pot: richly patterned foliage and genuinely showy flowers. Deep green leaves flushed with purple sit above a maroon underside, while upright spikes of vivid orange blooms rise through summer and often linger for weeks. It's an easy way to bring real colour to a houseplant shelf that's usually all foliage.

Position in bright, indirect light — direct sun will fade the leaf markings, while too much shade will mute them. Keep the compost consistently moist without letting the pot sit in water, and mist regularly or stand on a pebble tray, as this calathea likes its humidity high. Feed during the growing season. Safe for homes with pets. Grown compactly for now, it will develop into a fuller specimen over time, reaching around 40–50cm in height.
