Betula utilis subsp. jacquemontii 'Moonbeam' — 12Ltr Pot
Grown chiefly for its striking, luminous white bark, Betula utilis 'Moonbeam' offers year-round interest with peeling white bark that stands out beautifully whatever the season. This makes it a real focal point when little else in the garden is at its best, especially through the winter months when the bright, papery bark comes into its own against a dark backdrop.
A slow-growing tree with a neat, rounded crown, 'Moonbeam' is a good choice for gardeners who want the classic white-barked birch look without a fast-growing, oversized tree — reaching a manageable size after ten years and continuing to develop steadily from there, making it well suited to medium-sized gardens and courtyards.
Grow in full sun or partial shade, in any reasonably fertile, moist but well-drained soil — this variety tolerates chalk, clay, loam and sand. It's fully hardy (RHS H7), copes with both exposed and sheltered sites, and requires very little pruning once established.
Each tree is hand-selected before dispatch, supplied in a 12-litre pot ready for planting straight into its final position.
