Betula 'Fetisowii' — 12ltr Pot

An unusual and characterful choice among ornamental birches, Betula 'Fetisowii' brings a slightly different take on the classic white-barked look. Its pale, creamy-white bark peels away in irregular, flaking bands rather than smooth sheets, revealing warmer apricot-tan tones beneath — a subtly different texture and colour to the more familiar bright-white birches. Glossy green, ovate leaves emerge in spring and turn a soft yellow in autumn.

A slow-growing tree with a narrower head than many other birches, 'Fetisowii' is a good option for smaller gardens where a full-sized ornamental birch would be too much, while still offering genuine year-round bark interest. It performs best in moisture-retentive soil, where its canopy fills out fully; in drier conditions it can look a little sparse.

Grow in full sun, in any reasonably fertile, moist but well-drained soil — this variety tolerates chalk, clay, loam and sand. It's fully hardy and needs only minimal pruning once established, best carried out in late summer to midwinter to avoid heavy sap "bleeding."
