Azalea japonica 'Silvester' 10ltr pot

Azalea japonica 'Silvester'

A Dutch-bred Kurume hybrid azalea, 'Silvester' produces beautiful, large, upright-facing purple-pink flowers with a deeper-coloured centre fading to paler margins, giving an almost two-tone, silky-textured effect. Flowering in May, the blooms stand out well against the small, ovate, dark green evergreen leaves, and the plant is a vigorous, easy grower with a neat, compact habit.

Reaching around 75–90cm in height with a similar spread, 'Silvester' is well suited to mixed borders, Japanese-style planting, rock gardens, and containers on a patio or balcony, thanks to its tidy, bushy growth. It's a hardy, low-maintenance shrub, tolerating some drought once established, and grows best in partial shade in moist but well-drained, acidic soil. All parts of the plant are harmful if eaten, so gloves are recommended when handling and pruning.

Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
