Azalea japonica 'Girard's Variegated Hotshot' 2ltr pot

Azalea 'Girard's Variegated Hot Shot'

An RHS Award of Garden Merit variety, 'Girard's Variegated Hot Shot' pairs boldly variegated evergreen foliage with a striking spring display. Small, dark green leaves are edged in creamy yellow, providing colour and interest all year round, while in spring the shrub is smothered in clusters of ruffled, orange-red flowers with dark red spotting along wavy-edged petals.

Compact and spreading in habit, it reaches around 75cm in height with a spread of up to 1m, making it well suited to borders, rockeries, or large containers. It thrives in moist, humus-rich, free-draining acid soil in sun or dappled shade, and, like other azaleas, appreciates a mulch of ericaceous compost after planting to help retain moisture. Protect the spring flowers from late frosts where possible. All parts of the plant are harmful if eaten, so gloves are recommended when handling and pruning, and care should be taken in gardens visited by children or pets.

Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
