A classic late-season perennial, Anemone x hybrida 'Honorine Jobert' produces masses of elegant, cup-shaped white flowers with golden-yellow stamens on tall, wiry stems, held above dark green, semi-evergreen foliage. Flowering from August through to October, it's a wonderful way to bring fresh colour to the garden just as many other perennials are fading, and holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Plant in sun or partial shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, spacing 30-45cm apart. It's an easy, unfussy plant once settled, though it dislikes being disturbed once established, so choose its spot with care. Mulch generously with well-rotted compost or manure each spring, and avoid excessively wet, waterlogged conditions over winter. Cut back the flowered stems once blooms have faded, and tidy away old foliage in March ahead of fresh spring growth. Left to its own devices it will spread steadily by rhizomes to form generous, naturalised drifts, so it's best given room to roam, or planted where a bit of spread is welcome.
Perfect for lighting up the back of a herbaceous border, a shady corner, or a woodland-edge planting scheme. Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
