Anemone Queen Charlotte 2Ltr

Also known as Anemone x hybrida 'Königin Charlotte', this late-flowering perennial brings large, semi-double blooms in a rich, purplish-pink to the garden, with notched petal tips setting it apart from other Japanese anemones. The flowers dance gracefully on long, wiry stems above mounds of dark green, lobed foliage, opening from August into September and often on into autumn.

Plant in moist, fertile, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, spacing 30-45cm apart. It's an easy, unfussy perennial once established, though it resents being moved, so choose its final position carefully. Mulch generously with well-rotted compost or manure in spring, and avoid letting the soil become waterlogged over winter. Cut back flowered stems as blooms fade, and tidy away old foliage in March. Left undisturbed, it spreads readily by root runners to form substantial, naturalised clumps, so allow it plenty of room — and note that the larger, heavier flowerheads may benefit from a little support in exposed spots.
