Anemone hupehensis 'Bressingham Glow'

Bred by Alan Bloom in 1968, Anemone hupehensis 'Bressingham Glow' produces an abundance of large, semi-double, deep rose-pink flowers, their many rounded petals surrounding a central tuft of golden-yellow stamens. Carried on tall, slender, well-branched stems above a mound of vine-shaped, dark green foliage, the blooms appear from August through to October, extending colour into the garden well after most summer perennials have finished.

Reaching a height and spread of around 90cm x 60cm, this is one of the taller Japanese anemones, making it well suited to the middle or back of a border, where its slender stems can sway freely. It's remarkably adaptable, growing in almost any soil and situation, including deep shade, and becomes drought tolerant once established. It grows slowly into a good-sized clump, gently self-seeding over time, and makes an excellent cut flower for the house. As with other anemones, the sap can mildly irritate the skin, so gloves are worth wearing when dividing or deadheading.

Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
