Amelanchier laevis 'Snowflakes' — 12Ltr Pot

A real highlight in the spring garden, Amelanchier laevis 'Snowflakes' carries the RHS Award of Garden Merit and lives up to its name with hanging, nodding clusters of large, fragrant, starry-white flowers — noticeably bigger than many other amelanchiers — set off beautifully against the coppery-pink young foliage. The oblong, hairless leaves settle into mid-green through summer before turning a rich yellow flushed with red in autumn. Sweet, edible blue-black berries follow the flowers in summer, equally popular with garden birds and for foraging.

An upright, elegant tree or large shrub, 'Snowflakes' stays compact enough for smaller gardens while still delivering genuine multi-season interest — spring blossom, summer fruit and autumn colour — making it an excellent specimen for a sunny border, courtyard or lawn planting.

Grow in full sun or partial shade, in moist, well-drained, lime-free soil — this variety does best on lighter, acid soils, and autumn colour will be brightest in full sun. It's fully hardy (RHS H7) and copes with both exposed and sheltered sites, needing only minimal pruning once established.
