Amelanchier canadensis 'Glenn Form' Rainbow Pillar — 12Ltr Pot
A superb choice for smaller gardens, Amelanchier canadensis 'Glenn Form' — better known by its trade name Rainbow Pillar — combines a slender, upright habit with genuine multi-season interest. Sprays of small, white, star-shaped flowers cover the tree in late spring, popular with pollinators, followed by oblong green leaves that turn a spectacular blend of yellow, orange and red come autumn — the display that gives Rainbow Pillar its name. Blue-black berries follow the flowers through summer; they're edible, if rather bland to eat, but are readily taken by garden birds.
With its narrow, columnar form, Rainbow Pillar is one of the neatest amelanchiers available, making it an excellent vertical accent for small gardens, courtyards or planted in a row for screening, without the spread of a full-sized serviceberry.
Grow in full sun or partial shade, in moist, well-drained, lime-free soil — this variety prefers acid to neutral conditions and will colour up best in full sun. It's fully hardy (RHS H7) and copes well with exposed or sheltered positions, needing only minimal pruning, best done in late winter to remove any dead or crossing growth.
Each tree is hand-selected before dispatch, supplied in a 12-litre pot ready for planting straight into its final position.
