Acer rubrum 'October Glory' — 12L Pot

Widely regarded as one of the finest red maples for autumn colour, Acer rubrum 'October Glory' carries the RHS Award of Garden Merit for good reason. Its three-lobed leaves are a glossy dark green through spring and summer, with a whitish underside, before erupting into a brilliant, long-lasting crimson display in autumn — colouring later and holding on longer than most other red maple cultivars. Clusters of small crimson flowers appear on the bare branches in early spring, ahead of the foliage, adding another season of interest.

A large, deciduous tree with a strong, upright habit and erect main branches, 'October Glory' develops into an impressive oval to rounded crown given space to grow, making it an excellent architectural specimen for larger gardens, parks or open landscapes.

Grow in full sun or partial shade, in moist but well-drained, acid to neutral soil — a sheltered position will help it establish and perform at its best. It's very hardy (RHS H6) and needs only minimal pruning once established, making it a genuinely low-maintenance choice for the space it fills.
