Acer davidii 'Viper' 7L

Acer davidii 'Viper' (Snake Bark Maple) – 12L Pot

Grown as much for its bark as its foliage, Acer davidii 'Viper' is a compact snake bark maple with striking green stems marked with fine, silvery-white vertical stripes — a real feature through the winter months once the leaves have fallen. Dark green summer foliage, tinged bronze as it emerges in spring, turns rich orange in autumn, while small yellow flowers in late spring are followed by attractive red-brown winged seeds.

An upright, elegant small tree, 'Viper' is fully hardy and tolerant of most soil types, thriving in full sun or partial shade with some shelter from cold winds. Its compact habit — reaching around 7 metres in height with a 3 metre spread over 20 years — makes it a good choice for smaller gardens where many maples would outgrow the space, or as a striking specimen for winter interest.

British grown. Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
