Acacia dealbata 12L pot

Acacia dealbata (Mimosa / Silver Wattle) – 12L Pot

Few trees announce the end of winter quite like mimosa. From January into early spring, Acacia dealbata bursts into clouds of fragrant, fluffy yellow flowerheads, held above finely divided, silvery-grey foliage that stays attractive year-round. It's a fast-growing evergreen with an airy, graceful habit — as at home trained against a sheltered wall as it is given room to develop as a specimen tree.

Best suited to milder, coastal or south-western gardens (Cornwall's climate suits it particularly well), mimosa needs a warm, sheltered, sunny spot and free-draining, neutral to acidic soil to thrive; it's rated H3, hardy to only around -5°C, so protection from hard frosts is worthwhile in colder winters. Left unpruned it can reach 8–12 metres with a 2.5–4 metre spread over time, though light pruning after flowering keeps it more compact and shapely in a garden setting.
