Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation' 8 bulbs

One of the most popular and reliable ornamental onions, Allium 'Purple Sensation' produces dense, perfectly spherical umbels of vivid violet-purple, star-shaped flowers, each 8-10cm across, held on strong, upright stems above strap-shaped foliage. Flowering in late spring as the tulips are finishing, it bridges the gap beautifully between spring and early summer displays, and the dried seedheads remain attractive for weeks after the colour has faded.

Reaching around 60-80cm in height, this variety is best planted in autumn, 10-15cm deep, in well-drained soil in full sun. It's fully hardy, easy to grow and thrives in poorer soils, making it an excellent low-maintenance choice for borders, gravel gardens and cutting patches alike. As with other alliums, the foliage carries a mild onion scent when bruised or crushed.
