Phormium 'Sundowner' 3Ltr

A bold, architectural New Zealand flax and one of the most striking Phormium varieties for year-round colour. Broad, sword-like leaves are bronze-green through the centre, boldly striped towards the margins with vivid red and pink — a warm, sunset-toned combination that gives the variety its name and holds its colour beautifully through every season. This variety carries the RHS Award of Garden Merit, recognising its outstanding reliability in the garden. Tall flower spikes bearing yellowish blooms are occasionally produced in a good summer.

This evergreen perennial forms an upright, statuesque clump reaching 1–1.5m (3¼–5ft) in height and spread, making it an excellent architectural centrepiece at the back of a border or as a bold accent in large containers. It thrives in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade, and copes particularly well with windy, coastal positions.
